Tides

I’ve been to the beach multiple times, walked around and enjoy the view.  This time around after our first leases on “Chemical and Physical Features of the Ocean” I’ve learned about Tides, they are very long-period waves that move through the ocean in response to the forces exerted by the moon and sun.  As a visual example Sarah, Nanna and I represented the solar system depending of the time they are aligned we are able to see Spring tides when the sun and the moon are in line, Neap tides occur when earth, sun and moon form a right angle both types occur each month. The tides have two high and two low tides each day.  Tides are influenced by gravitations force and centrifugal force.  The importance of the tides are to expose and submerge organisms, drive circulation, and trigger spawning in some species.  After learning about tides a walk in the beach will not be the same with out exploring the shoreline and acknowledging the impact the sun, moon and earth have to tides.
